Liquor Inventory: The Double-Whammy Effect

You remember that game show, Press Your Luck, where the contestants hovered over a giant button with two hands while hollering, “No Whammies! No Whammies! No Whammies! STOP!”?

The hope was that when they pressed the button they would land on money and that their highlighted square wouldn’t stop on a “Whammy”, the little mentally-challenged super-hero character that would theoretically take all your money and start you back at zero.

In the bar business, we have our own Whammy to deal with, namely tracking the bar inventory so that you don’t lose tens-of-thousands of dollars per year due to bartender buffoonery. Bartender theft is outrageous, and what most bar owners and managers don’t realize is that when the bartenders over-pour, there is a double-whammy effect that they aren’t even considering.

Check out the video to find out how the double-whammy effect is hitting your business. And if you aren’t tracking your liquor inventory, sooner or later the Whammy (your bartenders) will take all your money and you will be stuck starting at zero.
